The Past Events of Fort Lyonhall

Rose Epineuse

May 16, 2026

In 2088 Draili Common Era, the World Walker Portal returned and Fort Lyonhall remained under the watchful guidance of the Celestial Roses. There were ribbon cuttings for the grand openings of both the Imperial Battle Arena and the Library.

During the opening of the Arena, some strange newcomers made an appearance but we promptly sent away. They returned later with a dragon hatchling, and were announced during an interruption of the Bard Show as the Naturiens. The Naturiens were sponsored by the Celestial Roses to come to Fort Lyonhall, and work on a Dragon Reintroduction Program.

Meanwhile, some strange townsfolk gathered in secret. They revealed themselves to be a hidden organization, recruiting World Walkers to the side of the Royalists in the war against the Celestial Roses.

The night ended with a memorial for Ley Mirielle, a Magi who had been murdered during the Mortem Astraque event in the previous year. This was cut short by the Celestial Roses, who announced that town clerk Elodie Rupper was being sent to survey the surrounding settlements. As Elodie had previously been in charge of the new Library, the job of Librarian was given to Viceroy Valora, who was there to represent the newly crowned Emperor of Draile.

Mortem Astraque

As the World Walker portal once again opens, the Fort is tense. The local gardening group, the Celestial Roses, have started recruiting to their club. Alaric’s mind seems clear from the Dark Moon Amulet’s power, and the Arcane Oversight Committee has hidden away the Amulet for safe keeping.

A letter arrives, with information investigating Alton Murdock as well as Ley’s supposedly deceased father. Included in the letter is mention that a representative of the Crown will be arriving in the Fort that evening. The town is surprised to find that the representative to arrive is actually King Griffith Ryons himself. The King and World Walkers review the house arrests made over the last few events, and ultimately decide to release everyone, with an eye kept on them to ensure nothing else occurs. He also reviews the Charter and agrees to it, though with some hesitancy on certain points.

Before leaving, King Ryons also discusses the matter of allowing Ardin to become a Bard. Dorian is told that he can sponsor Ardin, but addresses the dancer as Lady Kincaid, which causes tension among the surprised Circus performers who Ardin had been lying to about her identity.

Leander Valenborne suddenly arrived, telling the King that Draile had been attacked and it was a grave threat to the Kingdom. The King and his personal Guardians leave, with Forst and Leander following not long after. Just before leaving, Forst realizes that fellow postman Stamps is actually his daughter, and the two share a somber farewell. Leander checks on Penny, relaying a vague message to her before departing.

Tov’eh, Alaric, and Thyra, all Frostcrown natives, choose to celebrate a traditional Frostkin holiday with the Fort. The Bards play music while the three perform a dance known as the Samankin, to bring prosperity to the winter season. Dorian stops the performance when he realizes it is causing vines to grow through Sealed Magic. World Walkers vote to let the dance finish, though what may have truly happened because of the dance is unknown.

As the night draws to a close, Alton sends away the Guardians and Rangers through the portal to help fight and defend Draile against the attack from earlier in the evening. After they leave and the portal closes, Alton invites in cloaked figures who he introduces as his friends. They are here to protect the Fort now. Alton also dons the Dark Moon Amulet. As a show of his dedication to what he and the Celestial Roses believe, he reveals that he is Ley’s father, and fatally wounds her with a hidden knife. The evening ends as the Fort is claimed under the rule of the Celestial Roses.

Silent Night

Strange plants have been growing around the Fort, accelerated by magic. Footprints have begun to appear from a strange Beast, and the Charter has begun to create problems. The Bards are buried in paperwork, the Rangers are stretched thin trying to gather supplies, the Guardians are fighting with one another, and not long after the World Walkers arrive, the Fellstar is stolen from the Magi.

To help with these struggles, Reeve Alton has formed the Arcane Oversight Committee which has been assisting in a variety of matters. It is comprised of members of each Guild: Ro of the Guardians, Ley of the Magi, Penny of the Bards, and Clematis of the Rangers.

During a Magi class that Ley is teaching, Syr Alaric Grimwalde snaps and attacks her. He is pulled away from her, and Alton intervenes to protect Ley. Alton explains that the Dark Moon Amulet, which Alaric has kept on his person, is poisoning his mind. World Walkers vote on what to do with the amulet, and it is decided that it will be stored in a magically charmed safe box and kept by Clematis and the Arcane Oversight Committee.

The Bards and Circus performers, at the challenge of musically inclined townsfolk, put on another competition show. The vote for the winners is interrupted by chaos within the mail system and discrepancies in public records. Every Visa in the Fort must be checked, and World Walkers are recruited to help with postal deliveries while Forst is under house arrest.

It is determined that Lachlan was the mastermind of the Fellstar heist, and he is put under house arrest. The Fort leaders then discuss the issue of the strange plants and Sealed Magic that seems to be encouraging their growth. The night ends as uneasily as it began.

Waxing Starlight

After a month of self-governing under the Charter, Fort citizens have decided that it is time to elect a type of mayor known as a Reeve. Three candidates were presented to the World Walkers: Alaric Grimwalde, Sutton Ownsbee, and Alton Murdock. There was also the option to write in additional candidates, and two World Walkers along with Circus performer Pigeon were nominated. World Walkers were instructed to meet each candidate, listen to their arguments throughout the evening, and vote for who they felt would best lead Fort Lyonhall.

While candidates campaigned, the Bards were challenged by the Circus performers to a lighthearted competition. World Walkers voted the Circus as the winner, and it provided some much-needed relief from the tensions between both groups.

As the evening came to a close, it was Alton Murdock who had won the vote. He graciously accepted the position and promised to uphold the charter. However, behind the celebrations and camaraderie of the evening, a heist was being planned with a few mysterious black letters sent to select participants.

New Moon

In 2087 Draili Common Era, the World Walker Portal returned to the New Lands again. Visitors found that Fort Lyonhall had struggled through an exceptionally harsh winter, and the portals to Draile had been cut off due to political unrest and strange border skirmishes with the vassal state of Lorengard. The Valenbornes were gone, and authority over the Fort was left to Commander Syr Alaric Grimwalde.

Many new faces had arrived in Fort Lyonhall and the surrounding settlements, including several Circus performers, and members of a gardening group who call themselves the Celestial Roses. It was decided that the Fort needed a Charter to provide order. The Guilds and Groups were tasked with creating their own proposals for this Charter. World Walkers helped finalize which parts of the proposals were selected.

Key points that were decided were the following:

Records would no longer be edited by the Bards before sending them to the Library;
Citizens could not be removed from the Fort without legal process;
Both formal education and mentorship were acceptable for certification;
The regulated study of Portal Magic is legal within the Fort;
Trade and sales within the Fort will be free of general taxation and imposed levies;
Fort resources will be allocated to expanding hunting and foraging efforts, with a focus on sustainable practices for survival.

Cinderfade

A World Walker portal mysteriously opened into The Grand Forest Mykeria, where the yearly celebration of Cinderfade was taking place. Forest Elves and their friends celebrated together with dancing, music, games, and artisan crafts.

As the event began, a Forest Elf named Hao decided to play a prank and steal a symbolic shawl. He gave it to another elf, Lot, with instructions to “get rid of it.” Misunderstanding what to do, Lot burned the shawl. When Hao later asked for it back, Lot confessed that it had been burned up. While the other elves search for the missing scarf, Lot and Hao asked a flower pixie named Adelina for help in making a new shawl. They are told to recruit World Walkers to help gather prizes from winning contests, for her pixie spell.

World Walkers successfully helped gather the prizes, and together everyone restored the shawl. It was able to be used in the ceremonial battle between elves Dal and Cad, which represented an ancient battle between rival houses. Cad was declared the victor of the battle, and the Cinderfade ended as it began, with merriment and dancing.

Midnight Eclipse

The Magi, Rangers, and Guardians hosted a debate for the World Walkers. They discussed the nature of magic, free versus sealed magic casting, and whether or not information should be shared or concealed.

The Guardians then turn their attention to some recently unearthed artifacts. One is the Dark Moon Amulet, an ancient amulet from a war, the Dark Moon War, that caused great destruction. The second is a record from several Knights around the end of the Dark Moon War. The third is a helmet that is thought to belong to one of the Knights in the record.

While the Guardians investigated the source of these relics and the records found, the Magi decided to test the Fellstar against some magical objects. When the Fellstar reacted to every object, they turned to the helmet. When it coincidentally reacted to the helmet, the Magi decided to cast a spell with the World Walkers and see what would happen. The spell caused the Guardian Alaric to pass out and experience a vision of an ancient Guardian, Danowyn, who was the helmet’s owner and Alaric’s ancestor. The protection of Fort Lyonhall was passed onto Alaric, and the Magi confirmed this after he awoke.

Shadow’s Dawn

Fort Lyonhall’s Noble family, the Valenbornes, were ruling the settlement when word of their father’s passing reached them. Declan, the oldest sibling, was called home to take his place as Duke. With Declan gone, control of the fort fell to the second oldest, Ambrose. She decided to enact wild new laws, like mandatory dance instruction, rationing of goods, and a twenty-four hour watch.

During the mandatory dance instruction, Ambrose collapsed. Magi determined that she had been poisoned, and World Walkers were asked to seek out the possible poison and find the culprit. It was revealed that Ambrose had been poisoned with a Heart’s Agony Rose by her younger brother, Leander. He was given Community Service as a punishment.

First Light

In 2086 Draili Common Era, a strange new portal opened to the New Lands. This second portal was not created by Magi, and none yet understand how it opened. This portal connected to a plethora of other worlds, including Earth, bringing in visitors that became known as World Walkers.

The Rangers and Magi had discovered strange artifacts a few days prior to First Light, which were named the Fellstar and Star Shards. Upon the arrival of the World Walkers, the Fellstar was stolen. World Walkers were recruited to help find the culprit, who was revealed to be Ranger Nym Faldura.

World Walkers were then tasked with deciding whether Nym should be executed, banished, or given community service. She was given the punishment of Community Service, and the Fellstar was returned to the Magi.

Before The World Walkers

In 2085 Draili Common Era, a group of magic students called Magi opened a portal. It connected their Academy to the New Lands, a supposedly undiscovered continent on the world of Miscuri. With no natural inhabitants, the king of Draile declared that the New Lands would be under the protection and rule of his kingdom.

Four settlements were established in the year 2085. The first acted as the gateway between the portal to Draile and the New Lands. This settlement was named Fort Lyonhall, led by the Valenborne family. Three other settlements would soon follow, named New Isolia, Solwick, and Griffith’s Keep. A fifth settlement would be built in 2086 after the success of Fort Lyonhall, and was named Silvercrest.
